Sunday 31st July was National Tree Day, Australia’s largest tree planting and nature care event. It’s a call to action for all Australians to get their hands dirty and give back to the community.
Stacey from Dreamer Design Lab went to plant a few trees herself at a Volunteer Tree Planting site organised by the Mackay Regional Council in Woodlands Estate, Mackay. Check out the photos she captured on the day or follow us on Instagram to check out the video!
1300 trees planted in Mackay
The Mackay National Tree Day site had 55 volunteers come along and together they planted 1300 trees! The plants that were used at this year’s event were locally sourced. Many of the seeds were sourced from the Woodlands site and then propagated by the council’s nursery team at the Mackay Natural Environment Centre.

How you can get involved
You can still get involved with National Tree Day any day of the year to help make a difference. You can take some time to connect with nature by spending time in your local park or going for a nature walk. Or, get creative with some nature-based activities like bird watching or making your own bug hotel. If you want to make a lasting difference, you could even plant a tree in your garden at home. And, of course, you can always donate Planet Ark’s to The Seedling Bank which helps to fund tree planting projects around Australia. Or go to One Tree Planted to plant a tree for $1us anywhere in the world. So whatever you do, make sure you do something to help our environment today!
One tree planted for every order
Here at Dreamer Design Lab, we love trees! Not only do they provide shade and beauty, but they also play an important role in our environment. They provide essential oxygen for us to breathe, they help to regulate the climate, and they provide homes for countless wildlife species. This week, we are celebrating trees by donating $1 from every single order this week (1st August to 7th August 2022) to One Tree Planted, an organization that works to plant trees around the world. We have chosen to focus our donations on Australia, where wildfires have destroyed millions of acres of forest. Planting trees is one of the best ways to help heal the land and provide a home for all the animals that have been displaced by the fires.
